MPC & ACT Uganda Charity Event Featuring Miss Uganda 2018/2019

On Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. the Memorial Presbyterian Church (MPC) of Midland, Michigan in partnership with the U.S.A. Michigan based Agape Community Transformation (ACT Uganda & ACT U.S.A.) NGO will host Miss Uganda 2018/2019, Quiin Abanekyo, and the CEO of Miss Uganda Foundation, Brenda Nanyonjo, at a charity event to be held at MPC (Colonial Room). The event will feature presentations by Miss Uganda 2018/2019, Quiin Abanekyo; the CEO of Miss Uganda, Brenda Nanyonjo; and Sue Waechter, U.S. Director of ACT. The MPC was the impetus of the founding of ACT organization; currently, MPC is one of 15 ecumenical organizations in Michigan who are partners in ACT Uganda & ACT U.S. NGO.

QUIIN ABENAKYO, a 22-year-old Miss Uganda 2018/2019 and the ex officio ambassador of the clean water project in Uganda, has embarked on her first assignment in the United States of America (USA).  Unlike the previous Miss Uganda winners whose first assignments were Miss World, this year’s Miss Uganda’s (Quiin Abenakyo’s), first assignment is to the United States in Washington DC to fundraise for the “clean water campaign”. Her other assignments in the U.S.A. will include New York (for the New Fashion Week and other media related engagements, and a meeting with the head of Permanent Mission of the Republic of Uganda to the United Nations in New York, H.E Ambassador Adoniya Ayebare; and Midland, Michigan where she would take part in MPC & ACT Uganda charity event at MPC and open to the public, guest at Midland Rotary Club meeting, a guest at the Midland Lions Club meeting, she will be hosted by the Honorable Judge Dorene Allen through a tour of the juvenile detention facilities & learn about U.S. judicial system, and visit DowDuPont for a firsthand knowledge of the company’s clean water business and programs).  She is being accompanied on the trip by the CEO of Miss Uganda, Brenda Nanyonjo. Miss Abanekyo has just completed her undergraduate studies from Makerere University at Kampala in Uganda; she is scheduled to be formally conferred with a B.Sc. in business computer science during the January 2019 Commencement Ceremony.
